CAS4 new challenge on SCS for Angela's Happy Stamper

have you seen the new challenge over at SCS??? i was unable to participate until now but I needed something "Clean and Simple" for the make n take I am hosting at Angela's Happy Stamper in Reston so the timing was perfect! Here is what we will be making to launch my stamp line in Angela's Store next Tuesday the 17th:

i decided to make an Easter Treat Bag and a Birthday Goody bag using multiple sets from Polkadot Pie. These projects really give a feel for the versatility of the line. Both toppers are cut with my nesties and folded in half.


For the Easter treats i used the little bows from the Sprinkled Background 1 - I stamped with Versamark and then dusted them with Sunflower Sparkle perfect pearls and gave them a LIGHT mist with water to set them. next I stamped one of the randomly with one of the mini hearts from Loveys with Pezzy in memento rosebud and the little flower image from Chocolate Treats 2 in memento lulu lavender. NOW for the dots for CAS4 - fruit punch stickles randomly in remaining open spaces. attach a big bright prima from Angela's with a custom skittle in the center - FUN!

The second treat bag just shows yet another option with the Polkadot Pie stamps. For this one i stamped the swirls from the Sprinkled Backgrounds 1 set using Memento Danube Blue. Next I stamped the tiny cupcake image from Chocolate Treats 1 randomly using memento Ladybug and Dandelion and then added stickle dots with red and yellow. Instead of a prima i wanted a little boy look so i stamped the larger cupcake from the same set and cut it out with my nesties. i stamped it a second time on the blue polkadot paper and cut the cupcake paper portion out. i colored the cupcake with copics, attached the cupcake paper and then did the swirl with yellow stickles. i edged the scallops with more blue danube ink.

NO COLORING day 2 - faux watercolor

this is one of my favorite techniques and i have recently been collecting stamps that would be good for this. i am afraid you will see alot of this stamp as i used the heck out of it this weekend!

~~if anyone can tell me why i have a pic come up sideways occasionally i would be eternally grateful - it is rightside up in my file~~

for this technique you need a stamp that is fairly solid - an outline stamp will not be as effective. i have just experimented with different ones and some look good and some don't.

ink up your stamp with various colors of dye ink - memento dew drops are perfect for this due to their shape - PLUS they have lots of yummy colors (and i have them ON SALE). once your stamp is inked as you want mist it very lightly with water and then stamp on watercolor paper. it is that simple!

those delish little square purple embellies will be here soon in lots of fun colors and finishes which i can't wait to get my hands on!

look ma NO GLITTER! OR hey i did it again....!!

another male card! no glitter, no ribbons, no bling......
i stamped the cupcake from Polkadot Pie Chocolate Treats 1 with black memento ink twice, once on white and once on green patterned paper (from the DCWV sweet stack). i colored the top of the white one with copics and cut out the paper cup from the patterned one and glued it to the white one. i made the border with the coordinating images included in the Treats 1 set. the blocks are all one border and i stamped that in Memento Pear Tart (15% off right now). next i took the matching mini cupcake and stamped it in memento rich cocoa in the spaces between each block. i love that i can turn this block border into lots of different matching borders with these sets.

i edged everything with the same two memento inks using the foam ink blening tool - i LOVE this thing. i love how smooth it puts the ink on - it makes the papers almost glow!

I'd like to introduce Taylor Usry * Musings of an addict! she posted her first project today and i must say it is FABULOUS!!! the other girls will have something up later today also so be sure to check out Catherine and Christine too!!

and now MY project for the day:
i used the Sketch over on SCS for this one - it is a new item in the store - acetate boxes the size of A2 cards (1/4 fold) and big enough to fit 8 cards and envelopes - perfect for giving gift sets!

i pulled out an oldie but goody from the first Pez-A-Doodle release - Butterflies A-Swirl. i have been doing so many projects lately with coloring i thought i would do one for those who don't necessarily want to or like to color. i inked the stamp with various colors of memento inks using the little dew drops - the shape makes it so easy to do this. then i stamped it and wah lah! a colorful image just like that! next i took my versamarker and highlighted the swirls and parts of the butterflies and brushed those with perfect pearls - forever violet and patina green - such delish shimmer!!! a few dabs of flower soft glue - OMGOSH YES the flower soft glue makes a huge difference - and a sprinkling of the new fuschia mix from the floral bouquet boxed set plus a bit of green on the leaves. then finished off with some quick dots of lettuce dimensional pearls which i also used on the corners of the box. the patterned paper is Stampin Up and i inked the edges heavily with bamboo leaves memento ink and my foam blender.

the memento inks and just about everything else are on sale right now so it is a GREAT time to stock up on lots of colors!!!

HOLY COW i got to Jen's SFYTT in time - that hasn't happened much lately!!! here is her awesome sketch ->















and my take on it:

i realized i had yet to use this awesome checkerboard background stamp from the Polkadot Pie launch so i stamped in memento bamboo leaves. then i filled in the empty squares with the various little mini chocolates from the two chocolate treats sets plus the little heart from the valentine pezzy set. i stamped the treats with Angel Pink and Rose Bud mementos. i highlighted the stamped background and the patterned paper with cotton candy stickles. paper, buttons, flower and polkadot brad are ALL from the pezzy's picks sweetie pie mini kit!

so what do y'all think????

this one is NOT all done up in it's valentine's finest because i wanted to show how the images can be used for other things - like birthdays or mother's day....

i stamped in memento black ink, colored with copics and highlighted with a white inkssentials pen.

the border is another demonstration of the interactive nature of the polka dot pie line. again i used the little boxes border stamp and stamped it in pear tart memento ink. then i took the small versions of the other three chocolates in the two chocolate sets and stamped them in memento rich cocoa in the spaces between the little boxes. Sentiment is from stamp a sweet impression.

all of the new Polkadot Pie sets go on sale tomorrow!!!! there are 6 total - two truffles sets, valentine pezzy, mardi gras pezzy, one large background and one set of four backgrounds - all of the sets mix and match with each other! hope to see you tomorrow!!! i will have another project as well as a mini tutorial to demonstrate exactly how they all work together.

mini tutorial (just a good idea) and some splitcoast challenges

This is the weekly sketch challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers (SCS). I love this one because it gives a nice big area to do some stamping. In addition the color challenge this week was monochrome so i threw that in too on one of the cards :)









So here is the monochromatic one:

I stamped little Dancing Pezzy using the blues on one end of a kaleidacolor pad (Baby Powder) but the variation doesn't show well in the pic. the music notes are swirly pop bead pops and the glitter is ice stickles. i am very into my stickles right now. i really want to make a card that is just entirely stickled but i can't figure out how to do it without it being ridiculous........

Next up - i discovered a new favorite technique - faux watercoloring the September technique challenge over on T!m Holtz's blog:

i had JUST gotten this stamp set from SU and had yet to ink it up - it is perfect with this technique. i tried some other stamps but only have one more i really like that i hope to make a card with this week. on T!m's blog he used adirondack inks of course but i used the memento dew drops because they are just so perfectly sized and shaped for multiple inking on one stamp. this is definitely where having ALL the colors really helps! as a quick rundown - you ink up with several different colored iks. then spritz with water using the mini mister so there is a fine mist and stamp onto water color paper (so glad i had some lying around). for the spattered background i just inked up a spot on my craft mat, picked it up with a very wet aquapainter and then spattered it on. the top purple piece is velvet cardstock run thru the cuttlebug.

the bottom border is my mini tutorial/good discovery for you. it is done using some of that doodlebug crushed velvet flock which i love. so supplies: tacky glue, flock (could work with glitter too), stencil of some sort, cardstock, foam ink blending tool, and repositionable adhesive.

I used a fiskars border punch to make my stencil, i am thinking the cricut could make good ones too. attach your stencil to your cardstock with repositionable adhesive to make a mask. apply a generous amount of glue to your foam and smoosh it onto your cardstock. do it up and down so it doesn't move your stencil and be sure you get it into all the cuts.

quickly pour on the flocking and smoosh it into the glue with your finger.

Shake off the excess and peel off the mask so it doesn't dry on to your cardstock. cool huh?

tutorial - alcohol inked transparency card

acetate cards are so fun!! and alcohol inks are perfect for them. i have this card for our tutorial today. it is two-fold today so hang on! inking the transparency and hwo to layer/sandwich your pieces correctly so no adhesive shows - this is something i learned from stacey in tech club last month.

first the supplies: acetate/transparency cut to card size and folded, stamps, white stazon (or black or whatever color you want), alcohol inks, blending solution, felt pad and applicator tool, cardstock pieces to finish it off. you will need four pieces of cardstock but more on that later.

Begin by stamping your images on the transparency with the stazon.

Next we will cover it in alcohol ink. I chose to use 3 colors plus copper metallic mixatives. the metallic mixative is very strong so you only need a little bit - here i have two tiny drops of it on my felt.

next i put a puddle of each of my alcohol inks on the felt pad. i added a couple drops of blending solution - the more you use the lighter your colors will be.

Dab the ink all over the BACK of the card you stamped - it will make the stazon come off.

now for the cardstock "sandwiches" on the front and back. here i have a stamped image (stamped with tuxedo black memento ink and colored with copics - wings are opal liquid pearls) with a thin purple mat and larger yellow scallop mat for the front. for the back/inside i have a white circle for writing on and a purple mat THE SAME SIZE as the front ones so they will be hidden and a green square with stamped corners for the very back of the card.

the green piece is the largest so we want to position everything in relation to that or we could put our circles up to high and the large square will be over the top of the card. BUT DO NOT ATTACH IT YET.

attach your white circles to your purple mats. now lay your green square (or back piece) down on the table. put adhesive on the back side of the inner writing piece, position it on the inside of the card in relation to the back piece - i hope that makes sense - in this photo the green piece is not yet glued on.




NOW close the card so you are looking at the back of the piece you just glued to the inside. put your adhesive on WHERE THE INSIDE piece is showing, turn it over and lower it onto the back mat piece so you can be sure it is centered correctly and stick your back piece on - this way the adhesive does not show through.

For the front pieces you will glue the front (smaller) piece on first - line this up with the inside piece that is the same shape and size so the front piece hides the inside piece. Open the card, put the adhesive directly on the acetate where the back side of your front piece is showing, lay the scallop mat on the table and lower the front of the card down so you can be sure the front piece is centered correctly on its mat.

your acetate is now sandwiched BETWEEN your cardstock pieces so the adhesive does not show and you aren't seeing a plain back side of any piece but still have a place to write a message on the inside. notice when my card is closed i positioned my pieces so the front image is framed by the yellow scallop and the green square.

i do wish in hindsight that i had only inked the bottom portion of the card and left the top clear but oh well - another card another day right?!?!?

just a card...OCC sketch

hi all! took a break from tutorials to play with the new memento dew drops i have just added to the store and my copics - LOVE them i must say!! so here is the wonderful sketch over on OCC:












and here is the card:

the sketch was so simple that i KNEW it would be the perfect time to play with some of my new stampscapes. i recently added to my collection so i could really start making some scenes. the little memento dew drops are perfect here - with their small size and unique shape i could ink up in different colors. so the background mountains are rich cocoa, the trees are cottage ivy, the foliage beneath the trees in new sprout and the water is danube blue. I LOVE the precision i can ink up with using these. once i stamped i colored in with copics and the ink worked wonderfully - NO bleeding whatsoever. the leaves are cut with my cricut and then rubbed with more cottage ivy ink using the ranger foam blender - paper is chocolate chip and patterned paper from SU!

hi all!!


quick post as i have work to do!!! i have had many requests for the inkadinkado $1 stamps out at Joanns. i CAN get them in. unfortunately i CANNOT sell them for $1 - Joanns gets special wholesale pricing *barf* i can do the full set for $40 - that's $1.66 a piece and it's the best i can do. so order if you are interested :)

studio G - i know some Ms don't even have series 14 out yet (mine included *cries*) but i have pics of the next one up and have updated my web gallery/studio G shrine :P so drum roll - series 17 - very different look - scrapbooking greared and due out end of July (which apparently means Christmas in my area...)




Cute huh? glad to see they are really trying to mix things up a bit for us!



next studio G update - i did a precursry digging in those boxes i posted yesterday - looks like all series 16 so crossing my fingers for more boxes to arrive today.



i may be scarce this weekend and early next week - you know what i'll be doing! sorting and packaging, sorting and packaging. i WILL have the first in the perfect pearls tutorials up tomorrow though. you do NOT want to miss these - they are SO yummy!!!!!!
